Take Action! Be an advocate for UCSC!
Public higher education in California has taken huge reductions over the last six years. Overall, funding for UC has been reduced $800 million. In addition, the State's funding per student has declined significantly. In the late 80's and early 90's State funding comprised between 50-60% of UC Santa Cruz's operating budget. Today, the State only provides about 23% of the funding required to educate our students.
Preserving excellence and accessibility in the UC system is central to California's economic future and the opportunities that will be available for its people. With your help, we can collectively raise our voices to express our support for public higher education. California must develop a plan to stabilize long-term support and funding for higher education.
